Zapata Expresses Interest In Premier League Move
Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata has expressed interest in testing himself in the Premier League one day, and has named Arsenal as the club he supported as a boy.
Zapata is regarded as one of the most feared forwards in the Italian Serie A, with his strength and pace a nuisance for most of the division’s best defenders.
The 30-year-old Colombian international’s attributes have seen him linked with a move to England as the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool have been credited with an interest.
Zapata has done little to quell those rumours as he was asked of a possible move to the English top flight.
When asked about a possible summer move, Zapata told the Gazzetta dello Sport: “My future in the Premier League? Never say never in football.
“When I was a kid, I was always watching the Premier League – I was an Arsenal fan! I got up early every weekend to watch their games.
“I was in love with Thierry Henry’s Arsenal. In Colombia, we love the Premier League. Who knows, one day I could play there.”
Zapata’s current contract with Atalanta does not expire until the summer of 2023.
The former Napoli striker has made 38 appearances for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men this season, scoring 14 goals.
