Wisla Krakow To ‘Retire’ Seat For Departed Super Fan

Poland top flight side Wisla Krakow have promised to reserve an empty seat for a super female fan who passed away recently at the age of 92.

Wisla Krakow To ‘Retire’ Seat For Departed Super Fan

Julia Kmiecik was a diehard fan of Krakow and had been attending club games for the past 51 years until her recent death.

Julia used the same seat during her attendances to the Krakow Stadium, and the club have decided to ‘retire’ the seat in her honour.

Tributes have poured in from the club and its supporters for Julia, with her dedication even in times of need hailed as exemplary.

Julia’s seat will continue to remain empty even in her permanent absence and the club’s scarf, which she carried along to games, will be laid in it.

Wisla Krakow did not give Julia much to cheer about during her final few months on earth as the club have lost their last ten league games.

The last win Julia witnessed was a 4-2 win over Zaglebie on the last day of August.

The club is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in Poland but find themselves bottom of the league after 18 games with 11 points and just three wins.

Founded in 1906, Krakow have won the Polish league 14 times, last doing so in the 2010/2011 season.
