Ten Hag Believes Garnacho Has Already Scored Goal Of The Season

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag believes Alejandro Garnacho has already scored the goal of the season against Everton on Sunday.

Ten Hag Believes Garnacho Has Already Scored Goal Of The Season

Garnacho's first Premier League goal of the season was a thing of beauty as he produced a wonderful bicycle kick from Diogo Dalot's cross which flew into the top corner of Jordan Pickford's net to set United on their way to a 3-0 win at Goodison Park.

The goal has drawn comparison with Wayne Rooney's effort against Manchester City in the 2010/2011 season and Cristiano Ronaldo's bicycle kick for Real Madrid against Juventus in the Champions League in 2018.

Ten Hag like most fans were left in awe of the Argentine's acrobatics and thinks the goal of the season has already been scored despite six months of the campaign still remaining.

The former Ajax manager said: “It was fantastic goal and this season there’s still many games to play, but probably already maybe the goal of the season.

“But not only the finish, it was the total from the back to the end, but of course the finish is incredible.”

Ten Hag added on the goal's comparison to that of Rooney and Ronaldo: “Don’t compare, I don’t think it is right.

“They all have their own identity, but for Garnacho to go that way he has a lot to come, he has to work very hard.

“You have to do it on a consistent basis and so far he has not, but he definitely has high potential to do some amazing things.

“It’s not the first time we saw this, we have already often seen glimpses, but if you want to be a player like Rooney or Ronaldo you have to score 20-25 goals in the Premier League each season.

“That’s not easy to get, you have to work hard, you have to go in areas where it hurts. So there’s a lot to come. But potential, he has.”
