Suarez Declares Readiness For La Liga Resumption

Suarez underwent knee surgery in January and was ruled out of action for four months, meaning he was supposed to be available once again for only a few games before the season ends.

But the continuous spread of the coronavirus has led to the suspension of the Spanish top flight and there are still eleven games of the season left to play.

Barcelona are still waiting to negotiate their UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg with Napoli after the first leg in Italy ended 1-1.

Suarez’s rehabilitation has so far gone to plan and the former Liverpool striker says he is on course to play a part in new manager Quique Setien’s plans when the season resumes.

"[My return] is within the possibilities that we've been managing and now there's been a change, but the idea of returning early was clear," Suarez told Referi.

"My doctor was telling me that I've been doing so well and that gave me hope of returning to play as soon as possible.

"The different now is when the team returns, I'm going to be able to play."

Before his injury, Suarez made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Blaugrana this season, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists.

Barcelona hold a two-point advantage over Real Madrid as the season enters its business point.
