Suarez Attributes Messi’s Slow PSG Start To France Weather
Luis Suarez has attributed close friend Lionel Messi’s slow start to life at Paris Saint Germain to the weather in France.
The 34-year-old Argentina international ended a 21-year association with Barcelona in the summer when he joined Mauricio Pochettino’s side on a free transfer after the Catalan giants failed to put a suitable financial package together to retain the seven-time Ballon d’or winner.
By his usual high standards, Messi has endured a below-par start to his career in France.
The former Barcelona captain has only scored one goal in nine Ligue 1 games for PSG but has found the back of the net three times in four Champions League games.
Suarez lined up alongside Messi for six seasons at the Camp Nou, winning among others four La Liga titles and one Champions League together.
"We talk every day, we always try to avoid expectations because we are players and we know how we have to act in those moments, we talk about the games, about the family,” the Uruguay international told TNT.
“He told me that when he is playing in the cold, he suffers a lot and with the snow. You have to get used to what the cold weather there is like."
Messi has the chance to improve his numbers for PSG against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Tuesday.
