Spurs Lose Bentancur For Two Months With Ankle Injury

Rodrigo Bentancur is out injured again and will be missing in action for Tottenham Hotspurs until February.

Spurs Lose Bentancur For Two Months With Ankle Injury

The Uruguay midfielder was at the receiving end of bad tackle from Matty Cash when Spurs lost 2-1 to Aston Villa over the weekend.

Bentancur suffered ankle ligament damage from the tackle and has made a swift return to the treatment room, having recently recovered from an ACL injury sustained in February which cut short his 2022/2023 season.

The 26-year-old has made four appearances for Spurs since his return and featured twice for his country as well during the November international break.

"It is his ankle, I think," Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said following their 2-1 defeat to Villa.

"It wasn't a great tackle. I thought he started the game so well and I think it was the reason we got a real good foothold on the game.

"He's such a creative player. It's the last thing we needed. Another injury, so (I'm) disappointed to lose him, but we're yet to see the extent of it."

Tottenham have dropped to fifth after three straight Premier League defeats and will face champions Manchester City this weekend.

The North London side have been robbed off key players in a short period of time, with the likes of James Maddison, Micky Van De Ven and Ivan Perisic all out until next year.
