Sancho A Secret Target For Liverpool, Says Hamann
Former Liverpool and Germany midfielder Dietmar Hamann says his old club are keeping secret tabs on Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho.
Sancho has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest talents since joining Dortmund from Manchester City two seasons ago.
The 19-year-old, who is contracted to Dortmund until the summer of 2022, has scored 18 goals and provided 30 assists in 66 appearances for Lucien Favre’s side since moving to Germany.
Given his meteoric rise, it is only a matter of time before Sancho departs the Signal Iduna Park as some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Manchester United and Real Madrid have been linked with his signature.
Even high-ranking members of Dortmund’s hierarchy have conceded that at some point the £100m rated England international will have to be moved on to balance the books.
Speaking to Sky Sports in Germany, Hamann, who also played for the likes of Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, Manchester City and won the 2005 UEFA Champions League with Liverpool says the Reds have plans of bringing Sancho to Anfield.
'What I hear is that Liverpool have great interest,' the former midfielder told Sky Germany.
'I would imagine that next summer they could become one of the biggest interested parties.
'He's from Manchester City and I do not know if he would come back again, and it's a thing for Manchester United, too, if they've ever been to the rivals.'
Sancho was recently suspended and fined by Dortmund after arriving late from international duty with England but he could be back for their Champions League game against Inter Milan later on Wednesday.
