Saka Pulls Out Of England Squad Through Injury
Bukayo Saka has pulled out of the England squad for their upcoming games through injury.
Saka's run of 87 consecutive Premier League games came to an end when he missed Arsenal's 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
Prior to that match, Saka had been substituted in each of Arsenal's last two games against Bournemouth and Lens in the Champions League.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta maintained after the Manchester City match that Saka will not be fit enough to take his place in Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad for games against Australia and Italy.
The 22-year-old reported to the England camp on Monday and after further assessment it has been decided he will continue his recovery with his club side.
“The forward reported to St George’s Park on Monday alongside the rest of the Three Lions’ squad,” an FA statement read.
“Having missed Arsenal’s Premier League win against Manchester City on Sunday through injury, Saka was assessed by the England medical team and it was decided the player would continue his rehabilitation at his club.
“No replacements are planned with Gareth Southgate having a squad of 25 players to work with.”
Saka has 30 caps and 11 goals for England.
Arsenal's first game after the October international break will be against Chelsea.
