Richards: Premier League Title Race Not Yet Over
Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has insisted that the Premier League title race is not over and Liverpool will drop points.
We are not yet in December, but the Reds are nine points ahead of champions Manchester City, who are now third after beating Chelsea on Saturday.
Liverpool are yet to taste defeat in the Premier league and have accumulated 37 points out of a possible 39, their 1-1 draw against Manchester United in October was the only time the Reds failed to pick up three maximum points
The 31-year-old still believes the reigning champions are not out of the title race and will mount a serious challenge on runaway league leaders Liverpool.
According to Richard, the European champions cannot go unbeaten in the league and they are just riding on luck after the first 13 matches.
“It seems everything is falling into place for Liverpool at the moment,” the former Aston Villa and Fiorentina defender told Goal.com.
“I'm not making excuses, I'm just being honest in terms of decisions, like VAR when we played them.”
“But they played really well and they deserve to be there. Man City have been unlucky with injuries at the wrong time and also with suspensions, but I think it's too early to decide [who will win the league].”
“Liverpool will drop points between now and the end of the season and I do believe that, come February, March time, the point deficit will be a lot smaller.”
Manchester City are hoping to match Manchester United’s record as the only team to win the Premier League title for three successive seasons.
