Partey’s Father Confirms Arsenal Interest
Thomas Partey’s father has confirmed that English Premier League side Arsenal have registered an interest in the Ghanaian international.
Partey’s name has been circulating in the transfer rumour mill this week, with Mikel Arteta reportedly interested in bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.
He put in an impressive display at Anfield when Atletico Madrid defeated European Champions Liverpool 3-2 in the UEFA Champions League last month.
The 26-year-old has a £43m release clause in his contract which expires in the summer of 2023 but Atletico Madrid are bent on offering him a new deal to shoot his worth up to £93m.
Speaking to Richmond Entsie on Ghana-based radio station Tru FM, Jacob Partey said: "I called my son after hearing the rumours and he told me that the rumours are true.
"He told me they are holding talks between him and Arsenal. It all depends on the offer Atletico are demanding.
"If he goes to Arsenal fine, they have a lot of supporters in Ghana. I will be happy if he decides to move to Arsenal.
"What they are discussing now is how Atletico will release him."
Partey has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Atletico this season and he has found the back of the net three times.
He has won 27 caps for the Ghana national team, scoring an impressive 10 goals and was part of the side that competed at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
