Modric Passed Fit To Start Against Manchester City
Luka Modric has been passed fit to start Real Madrid's crucial UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Manchester City on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old missed two games against Almeria and Real Sociedad recently due to a thigh issue and had been deemed doubtful for the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna and Manchester City in the Champions League.
But the former Tottenham Hotspurs playmaker returned to play a cameo role as Real Madrid beat Osasuna 2-1 over the weekend to claim their first Copa del Rey trophy since 2014.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has decided Modric is now okay to start at the Santiago Bernabeu when Pep Guardiola's side come visiting.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester City, Ancelotti confirmed Modric would be starting.
“He can play without any issues. When Luka Modric is fit, he plays. He will play tomorrow.”
“Yes, yes, it’s clear. Modric and others will play.”
“Camavinga, he’s not a typical full-back, with and without the ball, his position changes. Sometimes he plays as a midfielder, goes between the lines, he is not a full-back that goes on the outside much. We have Vinicius on the outside, who is very dangerous.”
Modric has made 47 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists.
