Mitrovic Signs New Five-Year Fulham Contract
Aleksander Mitrovic has committed his future to Fulham by signing a new five-year contract at Craven Cottage.
The 26-year-old Serbia international initially joined Fulham on loan from Newcastle United in the second half of the 2017/2018 season, and his 12 goals helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League before the Cottagers sealed his permanent stay by shelling out £22m for his services.
Fulham are back in the Championship following their relegation from the top flight last season but have managed to keep hold of Mitrovic.
The former Anderlecht striker has made 135 appearances for Fulham, scoring 56 goals and will be hoping his goals get the Cottagers promoted for the third time.
Mitrovic has already scored three goals in four Championship games this season.
Upon signing his new contract, Mitrovic said: “It feels amazing. It’s been my home now for three or four years so I’m really happy to sign my contract for the next five years.
“I want to thank Tony Khan, and of course the Owner and everyone at the Club, for making me feel at home and showing how much they believe in me and how much they love me here, so I’m really happy.”
Fulham chairman Tony Khan added: “I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve agreed to a contract extension to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic at Fulham Football Club.
“Mitro has been a driving force in both of our recent promotion campaigns in 2018 and 2020, as he’s scored many important goals and created numerous indelible memories for Fulham.”
