Martinelli Provides Positive Update About Knee Injury Recovery
Arsenal youngster Gabriel Martinelli has provided a positive update about his recovery from a knee injury that has kept him out of action since March.
Martinelli did not play again for Arsenal when football resumed in June following the coronavirus lockdown three months prior.
Martinelli was signed from Brazilian side Ituano last summer and he impressed in his debut campaign with his performances and work ethic, making 26 appearances in all competitions and scoring 10 goals.
He became the first Arsenal teenager to record double figures for goals in a season since Nicolas Anelka in the 1998/1999 season.
Having watched from the sidelines for the last seven months, Martinelli has revealed he could be back training within the shortest possible time.
The 19-year-old told Arsenal Player: “I’m feeling very well, I’m regaining confidence and I can feel my knee is better.
“After an injury like this you are kind of scared to force the knee again but the past couple of weeks it has been fine and soon I can start training with the ball.
“I think we have an excellent squad and along with Mikel’s forward-thinking and winning mentality we can carry on doing well.
“We are playing well and training well, everyone wants to win and we are all giving everything. I believe this season is very promising.
“We won trophies last season and I believe we can win this season again and also qualify for the Champions League.”
