Man Utd Should Have Replaced Solskjaer With Conte, Usain Bolt Opines
Former Jamaica sprinter Usain Bolt believes Manchester United should have hired Antonio Conte to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before the latter joined Tottenham Hotspurs.
Solskjaer has come under pressure in recent months following Manchester United’s poor start to the season.
The Norwegian, who is in his third full season at Old Trafford and is yet to win a trophy, brought in the likes of Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer but United are languishing in sixth position after eleven Premier League games.
Manchester United have been outplayed and outclassed by Liverpool and Manchester City in their last two top flight home games, highlighting the gulf in class between the Red Devils and their rivals.
Conte was touted as one of the favourites to take over at Man United had Solskjaer been sacked but the former Chelsea manager has since been snapped up by Spurs.
Bolt, who is a die-hard Man United fan, believes a move should have been made earlier to bring a serial winner to Old Trafford.
"I wanted Conte," Bolt is quoted as saying by The National News. "He is going to do so well at Spurs. He is going to get them organised.
"He has been at Chelsea – he won a title. He's been at Inter – he's won a title. He's been at Juve – he's won titles. Everywhere he goes, he structures the team so well.
"In January, he is probably going to get one or two players, then at the end of the season he is probably going to find proper players and bring them in."
