Man United Handed Triple Injury Boost Ahead Of Sheffield Clash
Manchester United will be boosted by the return of three first team players when they travel to Brammal Lane to face Sheffield United on Sunday.
Defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Luke Shaw as well as midfielder Nemanja Matic all took part in an open training session on Wednesday following periods of rehabilitation on the sidelines.
Luke Shaw has been out of action since limping off in the 2-1 home loss to Crystal Palace in the third league game of the season.
The 24-year-old former Southampton defender will however face competition for his place upon his return to action with Ashley Young back from suspension and 19-year-old Brandon Williams impressing at left-back in his three league games so far.
Tuanzebe has not featured since limping off in the warm-up against Liverpool last month while Matic has not featured since the 0-0 draw with the Astana in the Europa League at the start of October.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a little short in midfield with Paul Pogba still absent and Scott McTominay limping off against Brighton and Hove Albion before the international break.
Matic’s return will be a welcome boost to a United side that has found some form in recent weeks with five wins out of six games in all competitions.
Sunday’s game will however come too soon for the likes of Diogo Dalot, Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
The Red Devils are currently seventh on the league table with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United a point and two places above them.
