Man City And Bayern Munich Reach Agreement For Sane Transfer
Manchester City and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of Leroy Sane for an initial fee of £44.7m.
Sane will travel to Germany to complete the details of a deal that is set to run for the next five years.
The 24-year-old Germany international has been on Bayern Munich’s radar for the best part of a year and only a knee injury suffered at the start of the 2019/2020 season against Arsenal in the Community Shield scuppered an earlier transfer.
Sane’s only appearance this season’s came as a substitute in Manchester City’s 5-0 hammering of Burnley last week but he is not expected to feature for the Cityzens for the remainder of the campaign.
Sane had just a year remaining on his Manchester City contract and would have walked away for free next summer had Pep Guardiola not cashed in on him.
Last week, Guardiola confirmed that Sane had rejected City’s offer of a new contract and would either be sold or leave for free next summer. City have thus avoided the latter scenario.
Sane joined Manchester City from Schalke 04 in the summer of 2016 and has since won two Premier League titles with Guardiola’s men.
He won the 2017/2018 Professional Footballers Association(PFA) young player of the year but could not break into Germany manager Joachim Low’s 23-man squad for that summer’s FIFA World Cup.
