Luis Enrique Confident Spain Can Conquer The World
Spain manager Luis Enrique is optimistic his side can win the FIFA World Cup despite being drawn in the same group with Germany.
The 2010 and 2014 world champions will do battle in their second group game.
Group E will also feature Japan and one of Costa Rica or New Zealand, who will contest an intercontinental play-off in June.
Spain and Germany have previously met three times in the group stages of the World Cup, with La Roja failing to win any of those games, although they did get the better of Die Mannschaft in the semi-finals en route to winning the tournament in South Africa in 2010.
Spain famously beat Germany 6-0 in the Nations League in 2020, and Enrique is supremely confident that his side advance from the group and conquer the world for a second time.
"It's going to be nice. It's a great group with a great rival, one that we'll enjoy. You don't play at World Cups often," he told reporters.
"My body has stayed as it was before the draw, the same. Regardless of who we got, being in the tournament is already a prize.
"Being seeded means what has been done in recent years counts. We know about Germany but not so much the rest, though we have time to analyse them.
"Competing against us is very complicated and it will be difficult to beat us. Anyone can beat us and we can beat any team.
"It is time to enjoy and be optimistic. We are Spain, seventh in the world ranking and we are going to conquer the world."
