Liverpool Cut Short Fabio Carvalho's Loan Deal At RB Leipzig
Liverpool have opted to prematurely cut short Fabio Carvalho's loan deal at RB Leipzig over a lack of game time.
Carvalho joined Leipzig on a season-long loan deal at the start of the season but only made three starts from a total of 15 appearances.
The 21-year-old Portuguese did not score in any of his appearances for the Bundesliga side.
A statement from Jurgen Klopp's side read: "Fabio has returned to Liverpool from his loan spell with RB Leipzig.
"The attacker comes back to the Reds having spent the first half of 2023-24 in the Bundesliga and made 15 appearances for Die Roten Bullen, whom he had initially joined on a season-long deal.
"Carvalho arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2022 and has featured 21 times under Jürgen Klopp to date, scoring three goals."
RB Leipzig Sporting Director Rouven Schröder added on Carvalho's exit from the Red Bull Arena: "Both sides were ultimately hoping for much more."
"He desires playing time that we cannot guarantee him. After several discussions over the past few days, we've come to a collective decision as a sporting management team that the loan should be ended prematurely."
Liverpool plan to secure another loan deal for Carvalho in the January transfer window, with Leicester City reportedly leading the pack for his signature.
