Kante Out Of Juventus Game With Coronavirus
N’golo Kante will sit out Chelsea’s trip to Juventus in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday because of a positive coronavirus test.
The 30-year-old France international is also unavailable for this weekend’s Premier League game against Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
Kante has been battling fitness issues this season which has forced Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to manage his minutes on the pitch.
Kante has not completed the full 90 minutes in any of the six appearances he has made across all competitions this season.
The reigning UEFA midfielder of the year lasted an hour in Saturday’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Premier League champions Manchester City and also missed the matchday one fixture against Zenit Saint Petersburg with a groin problem.
Opponents Juventus also have injury concerns of their own ahead of the clash at the Allianz Stadium.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side will be without the influential Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata after the pair went off with injuries against Sampdoria over the weekend.
Juventus defeated Swedish side Malmo 3-0 in their opening group stage game while Chelsea beat Zenit 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
France manager Didier Deschamps will be keeping a close eye on Kante’s situation, with the reigning World Champions set to face Belgium in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals next week.
