Iwobi Explains Why He Left Arsenal

Following the arrival of Ivorian forward Nicolas Pepe from Lille to the London-based club, Iwobi who believes he might enjoy limited first-team opportunities has joined fellow Premier League club Everton.

With many seeing the move of the Nigerian as a shocking move on the deadline day, Iwobi has come out with the reason behind his exit from the last season’s Europa League losing finalists.

“I spoke to the manager and Marcel and they almost lured me in. The offer was too attractive for me to turn down. The manager was telling me, ‘There is a spot for you, we will take care of you’. Basically, all the things you want to hear as a player.

"I always had that youngster tag at Arsenal, so hopefully with this move, I am able to make a name for myself in the Premier League and create history with Everton."

Passing through the youth ranks at Arsenal, the 23-year-old was handed his first senior debut under former boss Arsene Winger as he developed to become a regular prospect for the side.

And with Unai Emery replacing longest serving Winger, Iwobi made thirty-five Premier League appearances scoring thrice and providing six assists for Arsenal last season.

Having completed his £28 million, which could rise to £34 million based on add-ons move to Everton, Iwobi is expected to be ready for selection when Marco Silva’s side host Watford on Saturday in their second game of the season after missing the side’s goalless draw opener against Crystal Palace.
