The Reds started their season with a 2-2 draw with newcomers Fulham last week and continued their winless start with another stalemate in their first home game of the season.

Liverpool have been unlucky with injuries in the early part of the campaign, with Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones all missing their Premier League opener.

Their starting eleven against Crystal Palace contained a few surprises, with Nathaniel Phillips featuring alongside Virgil Van Dijk in central defence.

Ibrahima Konate, Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip have added to Liverpool's injuries while Joe Gomez was only fit enough to be named among the substitutes.

In addition, summer signing Darwin Nunez will miss the next three matches after receiving a red card for clashing with Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

Klopp is bemused his side will have to contend with so much misfortune so early in the season which has seen them fall four points behind champions Manchester City after just two matches.

After the Palace draw, Klopp said: “Honestly, the real feeling I have right now is I’m proud. Because during the week, everything went against us, it was crazy.

“It was like a witch was in the building, every time somebody else had problems.

“Then putting in such a performance, especially with the circumstances, I’m really proud.”

Liverpool's next game is against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday.
