Guardiola Wishes Bayern-Bound Sane Good Luck
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has wished Leroy Sane luck ahead of his impending move to German champions Bayern Munich.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of Sane for an initial fee of £44.7m.
Sane had just a year remaining on his Manchester City contract and Guardiola confirmed last week that he had rejected City’s offer of a new contract.
Sane has travelled to Germany to complete the details of a deal that is set to run for the next five years and he is not expected to return for the remainder of a campaign that is set to run deep into next month given City’s participation in the UEFA Champions League.
Guardiola said: "There are still some little issues but it looks like he's going to go to Munich. We wish him all the best, big thanks for our years together. We wish him all the best in his new chapter at a fantastic club.
"Is it disappointing? He wants to leave. Everyone has their own life. He deserves to move on.
"I'd love him to stay here but he decided to move on because he believes he will be happier [in Munich]."
Sane joined Manchester City from Schalke 04 in the summer of 2016 and won two Premier League titles with Guardiola’s men.
He won the 2017/2018 Professional Footballers Association(PFA) young player of the year but could not break into Germany manager Joachim Low’s 23-man squad for that summer’s FIFA World Cup.
