Grealish Charged By Police For Lockdown Car Crash
West Midlands Police have charged Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish with two offenses after he breached coronavirus lockdown regulations back in March.
Grealish is facing charges of driving without care and attention, and failing to stop at or report a collision.
The 24-year-old is due to appear in court on August 25.
Images of Grealish standing near a Range Rover that had collided with two cars appeared on social media on March 29 when the Premier League was on break because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Restrictions had been put in place by the government to combat the spread of the virus, but Grealish breached them to visit a friend hours after he had appeared on social media urging everyone to stay at home.
"A Premier League footballer has been charged with driving without due care and attention, and failing to stop at or report a collision," a police statement said.
"Jack Grealish is accused of the offences in Waterside, Dickens Heath, Solihull, on Sunday March 29.
"An investigation was launched after we responded to reports of a car hitting parked vehicles and the driver fleeing on foot.
"The 24-year-old from Barnt Green, Worcestershire, has been postal charged to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on August 25."
UK has recorded 42,288 deaths from 300,469 cases.
Grealish, a reported summer target for Manchester United, has made 27 Premier League appearances for relegation-threatened Aston Villa this season, scoring seven goals.
