Gervinho Joins Trabzonspor On Two-Year Contract
Ivory Coast international Gervinho has joined Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor on a two-year contract.
Gervinho moves to Turkey after getting relegated from the Italian top flight with Parma.
The 34-year-old scored five goals in 27 appearances for Parma in the 2020/2021 campaign but could not prevent them from dropping down to Serie B.
Gervinho has become a journeyman since leaving Lille for Arsenal in the summer of 2011, turning out for the likes of AS Roma and Hebei China Fortune before joining the Gialloblu in 2018.
"I am not a person who likes to talk too much. I prefer to talk in the field by doing my job. This project is a project I believe in. I am happy to be a part of this family,” Gervinho told Trabzonspor’s website.
"I also thank Parma for the convenience they showed in my transfer. I, my wife and my family are happy to be here."
"I'm here to help the team. I know my team will help me too."
Trabzonspor finished fourth in the 2020/2021 season and will play in the Europa Conference League next term.
Club president Ahmet Agaoglu, who has also helped acquire Bruno Peres on a free transfer from AS Roma, added: “I am sure that this will make our fans very excited. As a result of the 1.5-month meeting with Gervinho and Peres in line with the demands of the monitoring committee, technical delegation and our coach, we have reached a position to sign today.”
"Our transfers will continue. Our whole goal is to start our camp with the players our teacher has suggested to us.
