Fabianski Sidelined For At Least Two Months
West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is expected to be on the sidelines for at least two months after sustaining a hip injury.
Fabianski failed to play full minutes in his side’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium when he limped off in the 34th minute.
Having been replaced by back-up Roberto Jimenez, who made his debut in the Premier League, the Hammers were without fears of losing the former Arsenal goalkeeper on a lengthy spell.
But after further examinations on his injury, West Ham have been hit with a major blow in the new season as Fabianski is reported to be out of action for close to two months.
Fabianksi joined West Ham United from Swansea for a fee believed to be in the region of £7 million and has moved to become a regular prospect for the side as he won the Hammers’ player of the season for the 2018/19 season.
The Pole has been added to West Ham’s injury woes as he joins Michail Antonio, who is currently nursing a hamstring injury he suffered last month in their Carabao Cup game against Newport County.
Replacing Fabianski in his first league game for West Ham, Roberto expressed his delight for such an opportunity as he also wished first-choice shot-stopper Fabianski speedy recovery.
“It’s part of the position that you have the situation where you are not in the first eleven, but we have to be ready every time as these sorts of things can happen, so I’m happy for my debut in the Premier League as it is something every player wants to do at least once in their life. I am also happy with the way the team played.
“Of course, you’re never happy when your teammate is injured, but it is very common in our position that when you have to play, it’s because the other goalkeeper is injured. It happened to me before and now it happened to Lukasz. Now, we can only wish him a very fast recovery.”
Roberto, 33, is expected to make his full debut when West Ham host Crystal Palace on Saturday at the London Stadium.
