Newly crowned FIFA Club World Cup champions Chelsea needed a late Hakim Ziyech goal to see off Crystal Palace while Liverpool new boy Luis Diaz opened his account in a comeback win for the Reds in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea won 1-0 at Selhurst Park to cement their third place spot thanks to Ziyech’s 89th minute winner.

Emmanuel Denis struck a late winner for Watford at Aston Villa while Southampton beat Everton 2-0 at the Saint Mary’s stadium.

Arsenal avenged their opening day defeat to Brentford by beating the Bees 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka.
