Newly crowned FIFA Club World Cup champions Chelsea needed a late Hakim Ziyech goal to see off Crystal Palace while Liverpool new boy Luis Diaz opened his account in a comeback win for the Reds in the Premier League on Saturday.
Chelsea won 1-0 at Selhurst Park to cement their third place spot thanks to Ziyech’s 89th minute winner.
Liverpool had to come from behind to beat Norwich City at Anfield. Milot Rashica gave the visitors the lead early in the second half with a deflected effort but Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Diaz hit back to secure all three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
