The 30-year-old has played an impressive role in Manchester City's run towards the Premier League title as they sit a point clear of Liverpool going into the final game of the season.

De Bruyne is enjoying his best goalscoring season for Manchester City, notching 15 goals in 29 games while laying on seven assists for his teammates.

The Belgium international came out on top in an eight-man shortlist that included Mohamed Salah, Bukayo Saka, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrod Bowen, Joao Cancelo, James Ward-Prowse and Son Heung-Min.

"To win this award for a second time is an achievement that I am really proud of," the midfielder told the club's official website.

"There is so much quality in the Premier League and it is a pleasure to be nominated with so many other great players who have had incredible seasons for their clubs.

"I think my performances this season have been good and I am happy that I have been able to contribute with goals and assists throughout the season. Thank you to all of the staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible."

City youngster Phil Foden was also voted as young player of the season.

De Bruyne will win his fourth Premier League title with Manchester City if they beat Aston Villa on Sunday.
