On Friday, the club announced that Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic had succumbed to the virus and just 24 hours later three more infections have been reported by Artemio Franchi Stadium outfit.

Alongside Cutrone, Argentine defender German Pezzella and physiotherapist Stefano Dainelli have all fallen victim to the pandemic.

A statement from the Serie A side read: 'ACF Fiorentina announces that footballers Patrick Cutrone and German Pezzella and physiotherapist Stefano Dainelli also underwent tests, as they were showing some symptoms. All three resulted positive and are in good health at their homes in Florence.'

In a post on Instagram, Fiorentina captain Pezzella added: "The symptoms [have] disappeared and I am at home following the procedures indicated by my club."

Cutrone only joined Fiorentina on an 18-month loan deal with an option to buy in January following an ill-fated six-month spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League.

The 22-year-old former AC Milan striker has made nine appearances in all competitions for La Viola so far, scoring one goal.

Italy is the hardest-hit country with regards to the Coronavirus pandemic after China, where it originated, with 17,660 cases and 1,266 deaths recorded so far.

The entire country has been placed in lockdown in a bid to contain the spread of the virus and the Serie A, like most European leagues, has been suspended until early April.
