Bravo Ends Four-Year City Hell As Real Betis Move Beckons
Manchester City have confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo after four years at the club.
Bravo joined Manchester City from Barcelona in the summer of 2016 as then new manager Pep Guardiola, preferred the Chilean’s comfortability with the ball at his feet to that of Joe Hart.
Bravo was City’s number one goalkeeper in his first season, however, a number of inept performances during his first campaign in England sent Guardiola into the transfer market for a new post miner, and Brazilian Ederson Moraes was brought in as his replacement the following campaign.
The 37-year-old occasionally shone when afforded opportunities in cup competitions, and City highlighted those positives in their farewell message to Bravo.
"Claudio Bravo has left Manchester City after four years with the club,” the Cityzens posted on their official website.
"Bravo will be best remembered for bringing a new style of goalkeeping to City – the so-called ‘sweeper-keeper’, with his excellent technique and control with the ball at his feet.
"City fans will also recall his penalty shoot-out heroics, first against Wolves at the Etihad in 2017-18 and again when his save from Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum secured the 2019 Community Shield.
"Everybody at Manchester City would like to thank Claudio for his four years at the club and wish him good fortune in his future endeavours."
Bravo made 61 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City and won two Premier League titles at the club.
The former Real Sociedad man has been tipped to join Real Betis on a free transfer.
