Bendtner Sets Sights On Career As A Coach
Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has made a rather interesting revelation that he wants to venture into management when he retires from football.
The 32-year-old has earned a reputation as one of the bad boys of Danish football as he has struggled with disciplinary problems throughout his career.
Bendtner was suspended for six months by the Danish FA in March 2013 following a drink-driving arrest in his homeland while he received a €100,000 fine from UEFA at EURO 2012 for revealing a bookmaker’s name on his underpants when celebrating a goal against Portugal at the tournament.
In November 2018, Bendtner was sentenced to 50 days in prison for assaulting a taxi driver in Denmark.
The former Juventus striker and his girlfriend, Philine Roepstorff, have their own TV show in Denmark dubbed ‘Bendtner and Philine’ and that is where he underlined his future ambitions.
'One of the things I want to do well is to be a manager,’ Bendtner said on the show’s latest episode.
'I really want to take the coaching courses, so I have what it takes. I think that at some point, before I am 40 or 45 years old, I will have taken charge of my first club.'
Bendtner is currently a free agent after leaving FC Copenhagen last year but his manager at the club, Stale Solbakken, is adamant he can thrive in a dugout role despite his past troubles.
"I have to be honest and say I never thought of Nicklas as a coach,” Solbakken said.
"But I have no doubt that he has a good football brain, and he has experience with clubs in various countries.
"It won't be about his past discipline problems, but how he does in the job and how passionate he is about it.
"I managed him for some five months, and his behaviour was exemplary throughout.
