Bellingham Under Investigation For Allegedly Calling Greenwood A Rapist

The incident occurred in Real Madrid's 2-0 victory at Getafe on Thursday after Bellingham tackled Greenwood near the touchline.

Getafe have filed a complaint against Bellingham and La Liga authorities have employed the services of an expert lip reader to authenticate the veracity of the claims.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Spanish top flight released the following statement: "Getafe yesterday transferred the complaint to the La Liga match director. La Liga, as it always does on these occasions, has requested an expert report on lip reading to investigate the matter and act on the basis of what can be proven beyond doubt (by the lip reader)."

Charges of attempted rape, coercive behaviour and assault on his girlfriend by Greenwood in October 2022 were dropped in February 2023.

However, Manchester United, where Greenwood is still under contract until the summer of 2025, conducted an internal investigation and decided that the 22-year-old will not play for the club again.

Greenwood joined Getafe on loan from the Red Devils at the start of this season.
