Ancelotti And Casemiro Full Of Praise For Vinicius Jnr After Sevilla Wonder Goal
Carlo Ancelotti and Casemiro were full of praise for Vinicius Junior after the Brazilian scored an outrageous late winner against Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday.
Real Madrid moved four points clear at the top of the La Liga table with a 2-1 win over the Andalusians at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The visitors took an early lead through Rafa Mir before Karim Benzema levelled for Ancelotti’s men in the first half.
With just three minutes left on the clock, Vinicius, who had been frustrated for much of the night, cut in from the left and sent an unstoppable strike into the top corner.
It was the former Flamengo forward’s ninth La Liga goal of the season from 14 appearances, drawing praise from his manager and teammates.
"Vini has something special," Ancelotti said after the game. "His goal was extraordinary; a spectacular shot.
"He did not have the opportunity to make a difference with dribbling, he could not do what he wanted, but he has focused on being effective in the game.
"It's another step towards being one of the best. I knew his quality in one on one situations, in dribbling, but he did not have that ability to score goals in the past. He has shown another quality; he had never shown it."
Casemiro added on his countryman: "He knows that the teams are going to make it difficult for him because they realise that he's a very important player for Real Madrid."
"Great players score great goals whenever they get the chance.
"We know he's a great player, he's a difference maker when he gets the chance."
