Alaba Apologises To Real Madrid Fans For Defeat To Atletico
Real Madrid defender David Alaba has apologised for Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Carlo Ancelotti's side failed to pick the maximum three points for the first time in six attempts this season, with Alaba playing the full 90 minutes.
Real Madrid have dropped to third on the table as a result of their loss, with rivals Barcelona and surprise package Girona leading the way at the top with 16 points each.
Alvaro Morata struck a brace and Antoine Griezmann scored the other while Toni Kroos' expertly taken goal was a mere consolation.
Alaba has admitted that Real Madrid were not at the races at the Wanda Metropolitano and has issued a public apology to the club's fans.
"Madridistas we all expect more!", the 31-year-old Austria defender posted on X on Monday evening.
"This was not our game, this was not my game!
"We let you down yesterday but we will fight back and we will come back to what Real Madrid is!
Real Madrid will get a quick chance to atone for their sins when they host Las Palmas in La Liga on Wednesday.
