German midfielder Toni Kroos has signed a new four-year deal with Real Madrid until 2023 according to the Spanish giants.
“Real Madrid CF and Toni Kroos have agreed to extend the player's contract, which is now linked to the club until June 30, 2023.”
Toni Kroos, 29, current contract was due to expire in 2022 but has decided to stick around at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Kroos’ future had been in doubt as head coach Zinedine Zidane in last month refused to comment on the former’s future amid an expected squad overhaul.
“Toni is a key player. He's been in Madrid five years and has done great things. He's a great player that brings calm. I've always liked him.
“Everyone talks about Toni, and other players, in terms of whether I want them or not. Every player is good and important. There will be changes but not right now, at the end of the season.”
Despite the circulating reports stressing his stay at the club remains uncertain, the German World Cup winner described the claims as ‘absolutely false information’ on his Twitter account.
Toni Kroos played a key part in the side’s three consecutive Champions League glories as he has started 28 LaLiga games this season.
In his 28 league games, the versatile midfielder failed to record a goal as he made four assists aside his one goal in eight Champions League appearances.
Real Madrid recruited Kroos from German Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich in 2014 having signed a six-year deal for an undisclosed fee making him the ninth German player to join the Los Blancos.
Aside helping Madrid to win three Champions League trophies, Kross has won four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, one LaLiga and one Spanish Super Cup and also helped Germany to win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
