Solskjaer Backs De Gea Despite Another Costly Error

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskajer, has thrown support behind his goalkeeper David de Gea despite the latter’s error in their game against Chelsea over the weekend.
De Gea’s blunder in the game gave Chelsea the equaliser, with the result appearing to derail United’s Champions League aspirations.
The Red Devils’ bright start to the game was rewarded with Juan Mata’s 11th minute opener before De Gea cost his side again following his recent blunder in their Champions League fixture against Barcelona.
De Gea spilled Antonio Rudiger’s long-range effort, which gifted Marcos Alonso the equaliser just before half time.
Despite the Spaniard’s mistake, the Manchester United fans showed their support by chanting his name at half-time, and Solskjaer echoed the Old Trafford faithfuls’ sentiments after the game while refusing to give up on a top four place.
"David has been unbelievable for this club. That just says everything about the supporters," he said.
"No chance anyone can blame him for losing many points for us.
"I don't think you can give up until it is theoretically over.
"It's a big mountain to climb. We need to focus on our two games, win games again and see what the other games throw up."
The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper has just a year left on his current contract which has seen him linked with a move away from Old Trafford, but Solskjaer is determined to help him rediscover his best form.
"I think David is one that would like to play games. I'll chat with him this week and I'm sure he'll respond in the right way."
The result now puts Manchester United at the sixth position on the league log with 65 points, three points off the Champions League spot.
