Tottenham Hotspurs defender Serge Aurier missed Sunday’s loss to Manchester United at Wembley and it has now been revealed that the Ivorian was arrested by Police for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend hours before the game.

The 26-year-old former Paris-Saint Germain defender was involved in a bust-up with Hencha Voigt, his 31- year-old Haitian girlfriend and baby mama on Saturday.

Aurier has denied the allegations levelled against him and was later released without charge.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Police confirmed: "A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of ABH. He has been released with no further action."

A spokesman for Tottenham added: "We are aware of an incident concerning Serge Aurier this weekend."

The 2015 African Cup of Nations winner joined Spurs from PSG for £23m in the summer of 2017, and has appeared 12 times in all competitions this season scoring twice.

Aurier has courted controversy before during his time in France after he was arrested in September 2016 for assaulting a Police Officer outside a Paris nightclub.

The incident led to him being denied entry into the UK for a Champions League game with Arsenal.
