Saha Urges Man Utd To Move For Zidane
By Nigel Philips
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has advised the Old Trafford club to move for his former international teammate Zinedine Zidane as their next permanent manager.
Zidane remains the bookmakers’ odds on favourite to land the role made vacant after the sacking of Jose Mourinho although Tottenham Hotspurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is also in with a big chance of winning the job.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken charge at the Theater of Dreams temporarily, and the Norwegian inspired the Red Devils to a 5-1 win over Cardiff City in his first game, the first time Manchester United have scored five in a Premier League game since Sir Alex Ferguson’s last game in charge.
Saha enjoyed a four year spell at Manchester United between 2004 and 2008 as his 28 League goals in 86 appearances helped the Red Devils to two Premier League titles, and he believes that his fellow country man is the right fit to bring the glory years back to Old Trafford.
"For me, I am a supporter of Zidane in relation to the job," Saha said in an interview with Omnisport." He was an exceptional player, the coach, there is no equivalent."
"In communication, he has made a lot of progress. When I hear him talking, it's incredible."
"He breathes football, he is a passionate person, who has all the qualities to be respected. He knows how to balance attack and defence."
"At Real Madrid, he had three offensive monsters (Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale) and he has to make the link with the defence. It's huge."
"For me it's the best choice for United. I think he will have the support of the supporters, the staff, the president because he deserves it. And we're going to give him time."
