Saha: Difficult For Man United To Stop Mbappe

By Max Wise

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes it will be impossible for his old side to stop Kylian Mbappe when the Red Devils meet Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Mbappe will be the only fit member of PSG’s famed attacking trio that includes Neymar and Cavani, as the two will be missing in action through injury.

The 20-year-old World Cup winner is the top scorer in the French top flight this season with 18 goals, and he has weighed in with 22 goals from 26 games in all competitions.

PSG's manager Thomas Tuchel will throw Mbappe at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's rejuvenated Red Devils at Old Trafford, and Saha observes it will be nearly impossible for the English club to stop the French star's incisive runs, dribbling qualities and master-class contributions.

"Paris Saint-Germain are slightly ahead because they kept progressing," he told Omnisport when asked to compare the teams. "They have a player like Mbappe who cannot be stopped."

"Man United are a great club with quality players. Paris Saint-Germain are solid because the head coach brought more stability between defence and attack.”

“The coach can easily switch his system, he's very clever and has great communication. He has great coaching staff able to identify the opponent's philosophy. We saw him changing his system several times during a game.”

When the draw was made in December PSG were the clear favourites to qualify but the resurgence of the Red Devils under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, coupled with PSG’s mounting injury problems has left the tie firmly in the balance.

Saha enjoyed a four year spell at Manchester United between 2004 and 2008 as his 28 League goals in 86 appearances helped the Red Devils to two Premier League titles.
