Cristiano Ronaldo once again showed the world his humanitarian side as he asked the Portugal team bus to stop so he could take a picture with a young fan suffering from leukaemia last Saturday.
The 34-year-old Juventus star prepares for the Nations League Final against Holland on Sunday.
The Portuguese team partook in a low-key training session at the Estadio do Bessa in Porto ahead of their final game in the Nations League.
Ronaldo and his team-mates were heading back to their hotel after their training session, when the five time Ballon D’Or winner spotted a young fan holding a banner.
The eleven-year-old leukaemia-stricken youngster, Eduardo Moreira, was holding a banner that read: “Cristiano, give me a hug.”
The Portugal forward ordered the bus to stop according to Flash, a Portuguese outlet, as the young fan came aboard with the help of the security guards.
Ronaldo posed for pictures with Eduardo who has been ill for almost 10 years.
Ronaldo will be hoping for a better outcome in Sunday’s final on home soil as he was part of the Portugal side that lost 1-0 to Greece in the deciding game of EURO 2004, which the Iberian side hosted.
Ronaldo was also on the scoresheet as Portugal beat Holland 2-1 in the semi-finals of EURO 2004, and he will be hoping for a similar outcome as the hosts bid to become the first side to win the inaugural edition of the UEFA Nations League.
