Ronaldo Accused of Rape

By Joshua Walters

A thirty-four-year-old American woman has sued Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo in a court in Nevada, USA, for rape.

Kathryn Mayorga alleges that Ronaldo raped her anally in Las Vegas in 2009 and subsequently paid her $375,000 to allow the issue to remain a secret.

Mayorga has spoken publicly about her encounter with Ronaldo in the player’s hotel suite for the first time after nine years in the latest edition of German news magazine, DER SPIEGEL,

Mayorga claims, as published in the magazine, that Ronaldo raped her anally, and afterward, asked her if she was in pain.

"By this time, he's (...) on his knees. He says the 99 percent thing. He insisted,” Mayorga says, adding “he was a good guy except for the one percent."

DER SPIEGEL reports that Mayorga’s lawyer is questioning the validity of an out-of-court settlement in a civil complaint in Nevada.

Ronaldo, however, is alleged to have denied the accusations, claims, as put out by DER SPIEGEL, that the affair was consensual.

But Mayorga's lawyer, according to the magazine, has evidence to the contrary and is set to prove that from a document, which allegedly includes Ronaldo's account of what happened that night.

In that purported document, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is allegedly quoted as admitting that: "She said no and stop several times."
