Hudson-Odoi Still Bent On Leaving Chelsea?
By Joshua Walters
Callum Hudson-Odoi is reportedly bent on leaving Chelsea despite the London club’s rejection and desire to tie the player down with a more lucrative offer.
Hudson-Odoi has emerged as one of England’s young prospects this season, struggling to earn more playing time at Chelsea but impressing in the few minutes he gets in games.
The 18-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game for the Blues this season, but earned a national team call-up in the last international break, and impressed for Gareth Southgate's side against the Czech Republic and Montenegro.
Hudson-Odoi tried to force a move to Bayern Munich before the beginning of last season but was stopped despite tendering in a transfer request.
Reports emerged on Thursday that Chelsea were willing to keep the player by offering him a new contract worth about £100,000-a-week.
The new wages come after a report by the Evening Standard that the youngster had before rejected an £85,000-a-week deal which was presented to him by the club.
Hudson-Odoi has just a year left on his contract, and Chelsea risk losing him for free on the Bosman Ruling in 2020 if the youngster does not extend his deal.
But, it does not appear like Hudson-Odoi fancies any more years at Chelsea than he already has as ESPN reported on Friday that the player still desires to leave.
Hudson-Odoi, according to the British news outlet is still bent on following the footsteps of Jadon Sancho who left Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund, to become not just a permanent player for the Signal Iduna side but also a member of the English national team.
Manchester United are also said to be monitoring the player's situation at Chelsea and speculations are that they want to recruit Sancho and pair him upfront with Hudson-Odoi in attack next season.
