Pulisic: I Am Not Eden Hazard
By Joshua Walters
Newly recruited Chelsea forward, Christian Pulisic insists he has not arrived at the Stamford Bridge to be compared with departed winger Eden Hazard.
The former Borussia Dortmund player believes he has come as a player on his own, who is aimed at helping the club achieve its objectives, but not to fill the shoes of Eden Hazard.
Spending seven years at Chelsea, Eden Hazard completed his dream move to Real Madrid this summer for a fee of €100 million as he is expected to earn £400,000 per week.
And many consider the arrival of the American will fill the gaping void left by Hazard, but Pulisic has rubbished such claims.
“I'm not here to compare or anything. Obviously Eden was amazing and he did so well for this club, as you could see last season and the whole time he's been here. He was an incredible player. For me, it's coming in as my own player, proving myself and doing the best I can to help this team.
"Right now it's going on and helping the team whatever way I can. It's just bringing an intensity into the training first of all and earning respect in the beginning. Then I want to make an impact as much as I can on the pitch.
"I think the most important thing is about intensity now in modern football. Frank loves this club and has the identity of this club. All the staff are working with love and passion and they want to give us the best things to perform well inside the pitch."
Chelsea signed Pulisic from Dortmund in January spending six months on loan with the Signa Iduna club before joining the Premier League outfit this summer.
