Pochettino Fears Kane

Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that star striker Harry Kane’s season could be over after the forward hobbled off with an ankle injury in Tuesday’s Champions League game with Manchester City.

Kane sustained the injury after appearing to roll over his ankle in a coming together with international teammate Fabian Delph early in the second half.

Kane has a long-standing history with ankle injuries, having recently returned to action from a month’s injury layoff after suffering a left ankle injury against Manchester United in January.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup golden boot winner also sidelined for a month last season with another injury to his right ankle.

Kane had to be helped down the tunnel after suffering his latest setback and was seen leaving the stadium in crutches and wearing a protective boot.

"It's a worry for us," said Pochettino.

"We are going to miss him - maybe for the rest of the season. We hope it is not a big issue but there is not to much time to recover. He twisted his ankle so we will see how it reacts in a few hours."

"We need to check but it looks like it is the same ankle and similar injury," said Pochettino. "It is very sad and very disappointing."

Tottenham Hotspurs will not be the only ones sweating over Harry Kane’s fitness; England manager Gareth Southgate will be fearing the worst with the Three Lions in Nations League action against the Netherlands on June 6.
