Perisic Reveals Reasons For Snubbing Manchester United.

Ivan Perisic has revealed he was close to joining Manchester United after an offer was presented by the English club last summer.

The Inter Milan midfielder was the target of United boss Jose Mourinho in the 2017 summer, but the move collapsed after the Italian club decided it will no longer do business with the Red Devils.

Inter Milan wanted to cash in on the player to meet financial fair play targets, but plans changed partly due to manager Luciano Spalletti's resistance before the club sold some other players in the squad to meet the financial fair play target.

Perisic has gone on to play nine Seria A games for the Nerazzurri, helping them to the third position on the league log after 13 games, and scoring two goals and as many assists, aside making five appearances in the Champions League.

“It’s true that an offer from Manchester United was on the table and that I was close to leaving Inter,” Perisic confirms.

“But I decided to stay and, as I said, Spalletti’s perseverance to keep me played a big role. In football, small details in these situations are key.”
