PSG Rule Out Wenger For Sporting Director Role

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will not be joining French champions Paris Saint Germain as sporting director according to the club’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Wenger,69, has been touted as a possible replacement for Antero Henrique, who currently occupies the role, but Khelaifi has moved swiftly to bat away those rumours.

"I have very good relations with Arsene," he told Le Parisien.

"I'm close to him and I've known him for a long time. He is a wonderful manager and coach. He has a very sharp and very complete knowledge of football.

"But we have a sports director, Antero Henrique, in whom I have great confidence.

"When human beings at their best meet sport at its best, life becomes art."

"I hear the media constantly say that Arsene will come to take this job. It's too much. Let us work, please.

"Antero does a very good job. He will continue with us. He stays there."

Arsene Wenger has been without a job since ending a 22-year reign as Arsenal manager last summer, but he has made it clear that he has no desire of retiring just yet.

Antero Henrique is rumored to have a frosty relationship with PSG manger Thomas Tuchel which has led to suggestions of an impending exit.

Paris Saint Germain are in pole position to retain the Ligue 1 title whiles they are favourites to advance to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after a 2-0 away win over Manchester United in the round of 16 first leg.
