Neymar Injures Knee In Brazil Training
By Joshua Walters
With the Copa America nearing, Brazil have been hit with a fresh injury blow as their starman Neymar injured his knee during a training session on Tuesday.
Neymar, after being stripped of the captaincy, has got his left knee injured with just two-and-a-half weeks to the start of the Copa America in Brazil.
The occurrence of the injury was another setback for Neymar who has just played four games for Paris Saint-Germain having returned from a broken metatarsal in his right foot on April 27.
Doctor Rodrigo Lasmar left the field with Neymar following the session at Granja Comary.
The injury happened on the same day he has been stripped of the captaincy with Alves elected as the new captain.
Neymar had only be handed the permanent captaincy after Brazil's quarter-final exit by Belgium at last year's World Cup.
Brazil head coach Tite took the decision to strip Neymar of the captaincy following a number of disciplinary issues at club level this season.
A further report is yet to be taken as to whether Neymar could make it to the Copa America which will be played between June 14 and July 7.
Alves, who is now the new captain won the competition in 2007 and scored a goal in the 3-0 victory against Argentina in the final as he has the highest number of caps for Brazil with 138.
