Nainggolan: I Didn
By Joshua Walters
Radja Nainggolan has denied speculations that he forced his transfer from AS Roma, saying that his move to Inter Milan ‘did not depend’ on him.
Nainggolan played for Roma between 2004-2018, and became a fans' favourite with 26 goals in 138 matches.
The Belgian, who retired from the national team after his omission from the coountry's 2018 World Cup call-up, constantly pledged his loyalty to the She-Wolf faithfuls, but broke their hearts when he moved to Inter Milan this summer for about €38 million.
“I can’t always keep waiting for them and I have a clear head. It was difficult for me to leave Roma, but things in football don’t always depend on the players.
Nainggolan is beginning to find his spark at Inter Milan as he has helped them to two straight Champions League wins against Tottenham and PSV, and scored in the latter.
“Physically I’m feeling better, but I’m not at my peak yet,” he told Tuttosport.
“I’m trying to give a bit more experience to this team. The national team? I’m completely away from them, but I think I made the right decision.
“Roma showed Barca could be beaten last season, so Inter can go to Spain with peace of mind because for qualifying, it’ll be enough to beat PSV and do something special in London.”
