Muller Remorseful For Harsh Tackle On Tagliafico

By Joshua Walters

Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller has apologised to Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico for stamping the player during an aerial tussle in the sides' Champions League clash on Wednesday.

The German forward intended to control a long pass from the right hand side of Tagliafico, but his foot met the head of the defender and left him with a bad head injury.

Muller received a straight red card for the act while the victim was taken care of by his team's medics.

Muller took to his Twitter handle to apologise to the player, and disclosed further that the act was not intentional.

"I would like to apologise to Nico Tagliafico for yesterday's incident," Muller wrote on Twitter. "There was no intention [in the foul]. Get well."
