Mourinho: Comeback Wins Not Sustainable

By Joshua Walters

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has charged his side to stop the risky business of depending on late comebacks to win games.

The Portuguese think it won't always be possible for the Red Devils to concede and comeback to clinch victories with late strikes.

The Old Trafford outfit showed their trademark comeback instincts in the Champions League on Wednesday as they struck late to beat Juventus 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium.

The spectacle was the third this season, following similar scenes against Newcastle United and Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Despite the club having that reputation time immemorial, Mourinho is uneasy about it and told a news conference on Friday they must change or ran out of luck one day.

"It's not always possible, so if we keep conceding goals before the opponent we will arrive at a day we cannot come back. We have to grow up in our approach, it's clear the team is growing up, but we have to work on our compactness and start matches well.”

Mourinho revealed the latest on Romelu Lukaku and said the bulky striker could make the tie but must prove his fitness first.

A muscle problem has led the player to miss the side's visit to Bournemouth and Juventus but has since joined the squad at Carrington.

"Lukaku is training with the team this morning," Mourinho told a news conference.

"If the answer is positive, then one more session tomorrow, if the answer is positive he's ready."

"I can only say he trains, I don't know his answer.
