Mourinho And Wenger Slam Kane

Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger have had their differences in the past, but at least, they agreed on one thing as they worked as pundits for beIN Sports’ coverage of the Champions League final; Harry Kane’s struggles in the game.

Kane, who was making his first appearance since the quarter-final first leg victory over Manchester City on April 9 because of injury, was criticised by Mourinho and Wenger for his first half performance in Tottenham’s Champions League final loss to Liverpool.

Kane was given the nod ahead of Tottenham’s hat-trick hero in the semi-final second leg at Ajax Amsterdam, Lucas Moura, but the England skipper could not affect the game positively throughout.

It was heartbreak for Tottenham in Madrid as goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi led Liverpool to a sixth Champions League trophy.

Ex-Premier League managers, Mourinho and Wenger, working as pundits for beIN, slammed Kane for his show in Madrid as Pochettino missed the chance to secure his first ever trophy for Tottenham.

Wenger said: “We spoke a lot about Kane [before the match].

“He doesn’t look ready and overall only Son [Heung-min] looked dangerous, especially going in behind [Trent] Alexander-Arnold.”

Former Chelsea and United boss, Mourinho, stepped up the criticism for the England captain, claiming Kane was “hidden” throughout the final.

Mourinho said: “The reality is that Tottenham had 61 per cent of ball possession but had zero shots on target.

“They missed lots of passes, they couldn’t link play. Harry Kane was hidden all the time.

“He normally drops back, normally comes in-between the lines, normally he’s the link player.

“He receives the ball from one side, he goes in-between the lines, he turns, plays with the other full-back of the other side, he arrives in the box.

“Nothing of this dynamic [has happened].”
